The Turkey Hill Refrigeration project consists of a new compressor room and electrical room built inside of the existing refrigeration warehouse (where the ice cream is stored!). The masonry-built rooms required excavating for new concrete footings. The scope also entails replacing the 2700 SF concrete slab with a new thickened slab to support the new equipment. Several crane lifts were required to set equipment into some tight spaces and an electric excavator was used to work around the “no-propane” rule in the plant. Insulated metal panels (IMPs) and a 3’ protection curb were installed around the footprint of the project to keep the heat of the equipment from escaping into the refrigerated space. The highest level of safety precautions were taken to complete this project, while avoiding disruption to production.
